Our Strategic Plan for 2023-2026 is prepared against a backdrop of circumstances that are widening inequalities between individuals and communities. The continuing impact of the Covid- 19 pandemic persists, and particularly for young people in terms of their learning, personal development and mental health. While the labour market is strong and unemployment levels are low, too many businesses are structured around low skilled and low-paid jobs. This situation is exacerbated by pressing skills shortages which are impeding business growth and opportunities for the creation of higher-value jobs. Further to this, there are serious concerns about climate change and the need to rapidly accelerate decarbonisation to create a human age people want to live in. Skills, education and training are at the centre of solutions to all of these challenges, and colleges have long track records of responding highly effectively whenever they are called upon to help address even the most complex situations. The most successful colleges anticipate change, adapt, and lead, and this strategic plan sets out to ensure the College does that - maintaining an up to date understanding of national, regional and local contexts, and responding with the foresight needed to plan and deliver skills solutions timely and with high impact. This Plan brings forward new priorities, all of which are underpinned by an unwavering commitment to the delivery of high-quality education and training through an unrelenting pursuit for excellence.
